Hi there, I’m Faith Kibria

I am a native New Yorker and contrary to the age-old platitudes regarding passion and work, I try damn hard to separate the two. Although my mother would boast I have a somewhat successful career in HR in the Finance, Tech, and Media space, my primary passion has always been travel and food. My travels are inspired by what I eat and the food I cook is inspired by where I go (not counting the two times I got food poisoning in Hong Kong). My family emigrated from Bangladesh and settled in Queens so my expertise in cooking falls in my native cuisine of brains, guts, and all the cheap chewy bits. Oh, and I host “fancy-schmancy” dinners where I spend obscene amounts of money and time to impress people who only pretend to like me for my cooking. In their defense, it’s my only redeeming quality.

While my career and personal predilections may seem to stretch to odd ends of the spectrum, I sometimes still manage to apply my professional experience to my interests. I’m currently the Director of Human Resources at Milk, a creative, content, media, and beauty company. Throughout my journey, I’ve just been rewriting company policies to include unlimited PTO and I’ve somehow managed to hold onto my job so that’s just an added bonus.

I have a B.A. in Anthropology and currently working toward a lifetime of student debt at NYU (oh, and an M.A. in Food Studies). You can always find me reading fantasy books (Wizard of Earthsea for life) whilst I travel looking for food inspiration that I can one day replicate in my cupboard sized kitchen in Harlem.
